Provoked and upset/心に憤りを覚える

How do you relax? Sachi and I grew up in the countryside and we like the nature. Plus I'm an introvert. Although I enjoy being with people, I recharge my energy when I'm alone, alone with God. Solitude in nature is the best combination for me to relax.
I often set off for a walk to unwind myself. One day as I was walking on the street, I found a Buddha statute in the garden of a house. A person happened to come out of the house and I asked her why she'd put the statute. She replied rather confidently, "Man muss Glück haben (You have luck from it/This brings happiness to you). "
It's not uncommon to find a Buddha statute in Europe. In fact, you find a lot of them. Even in the Christmas markets!! As I was talking to the neighbor, my heart was cast down and I was reminded of the story when Paul was in Athens in Acts 17. As he saw that the city was full of idols, the Bible says his spirit was provoked and he was upset (v16). He was angry with the holy anger. But the original word for "provoked or upset" could also be translated as "troubled, distressed or even saddended". Paul must have been heart-broken for the people in Athens.
In the post-Christian Europe, many people are spiritually confused. The percentage of born-again Christians in Austria is said to be only about 1% of the entire population. Moreover if you're not Catholic but a Jesus-follower, you might be considered as a cult. In such a tough ground, how can we share the Gospel of Jesus Christ? I've heard a number of Austrian Christians say that without relationship, it's nearly impossible to tell people about Jesus. Prayer and relationship is the key here.
Lior has befriended one of our Austrian neighbors' children and she often comes to us and even eats dinner with us. Sachi's Afghani neighbor friend came to thank her for her care and friendship during their corona quarantine. Our favorite Turkish neighbor family brings amazing food to us and our food exchange never seems to end. I'm kindly invited to their parents' house once a week for a weight training (Yes, I'm still too thin!) They have never heard of or known the love of God.
May the love and truth of Jesus Christ captivate, be revealed in and change their lives.

みなさんはどうやってリラックスしますか？僕もサチも田舎で育ったので、自然が好きです。さらに僕は内向的。人と一緒にいるのは好きですが、エネルギーを充電できるのは、一人でいるとき、一人で神さまの前に出る時です。自然の中で一人静まることが僕にとっての一番のリラックス法かもしれません。
ですから、よく散歩に出かけます。その日もそうでした。散歩していると、ある家の庭に仏像を見つけました。家の人もちょうど外に出てきたので、なぜ仏像を置いているのか尋ねてみました。彼女はかなり自信を持って答えてくれました。「これが幸せを運んでくるのよ。幸せにならないとね。」
ヨーロッパで仏像を見つけることは珍しいことではありません。実は、至る所で見つけます。クリスマスマーケットでも仏像が売られてます！！家の人と話していると心が悲しくなってきました。そしてパウロがでアテネにいたときの話を思い出しました（使徒17章）。町が偶像でいっぱいであるのを見て、聖書は、パウロは心に憤りを覚えたと記しています（16節）。聖なる怒りを感じたのでしょう。しかし、原語では「憤りを感じる」という言葉は、「深い悲しみを覚える、心が大いに動揺する」と翻訳すこともできるそうです。パウロはアテネの人々を思い、悲しみに心が痛んだに違いありません。
キリスト教後（Post-Christian）のヨーロッパでは、多くの人々が霊的に混乱しています。オーストリアで新生した（born-again)クリスチャンの割合は、全人口の約1％に過ぎないと言われています。さらに、もしカトリックでなく、イエスさまの弟子なら、カルトと見なされることもあります。このような霊的に固い地で、どうすればイエス・キリストの福音を宣べ伝えられるのでしょう？人間関係なしにイエスさまについて人々に話すことはほぼ不可能だと、多くのオーストリア人クリスチャンが教えてくれました。鍵は、祈りと信頼関係です。
理央は最近近所のオーストリア人の子と友だちになりました。複雑な家庭環境で育っているその女の子はよく家に来て、私たちと一緒に夕食を食べることもあります。サチのアフガニスタン人の友人は、コロナ療養中にサチがケアしてくれたことのお礼に挨拶に来てくれました。仲良くしてもらっているトルコ人家族は、美味しい食事を分かち合ってくれます。私たちの食べ物の交換は終わりそうがありません。また僕は週に一度、彼らの両親の家に誘ってもらっています。ウエイトトレーニングするためです（はい、ここでは日本人は痩せすぎのようです！）彼らはみんな、神の愛を知らない人たちです。
イエス・キリストの愛と真実が彼らに表され、彼らを魅了し、人生を変えてくださいますように。
