One day at our Bible study at the refugee house, we discussed 'right perspectives'. Wrong perspectives lead us to wrong decisions and destruction, so the Bible says, "Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth." Colossians 3:2.

Subtract your age from the following numbers: If you're an Austrian or a German, 81 − your age = . If a New Zealander, 82. If a Swiss or a Korean, 83. If a Japanese, 85. If a Syrian, 72. If an Ethiopian, 65. In my case, 85 - 38 = 47. That's the remaining years I would have on this earth according to the average life expectancy. Of course, life expectancy is just a number, and only God knows how long we will live. What I want to draw your attention to is though, our remaining time on the earth might not be as long as we think, and we, whether believers or not, will one day stand before the Living God without exception (Heb 9:27). (Praise the Lord, we who are in Jesus Christ can spend eternity with the One who created us and loves us.) This solemn fact causes me to want to have right perspectives in life, and use the remaining time well.

Lior finished his 2022/23 football season. (By football I mean soccer.) We're very thankful that he is well received in our local society, partly because he plays for the club. Liana also had her last ballet lesson for the season, and I started playing for their senior team. After each practice or game, we all sit and drink beer for hours, they tease me as I can't drink alcohol. It's nonetheless a fantastic opportunity to build a relationship with the locals. (I can only understand 20% of what they talk in Austrian dialect, but I get by with smiling and pretend I understand. lol)

When I burned out in 2018, I wasn't able to walk from one side of the football field to the other. I remember praying to God, "if You enable me to play sports again, I will play for You." Last time I belonged to a football team was in 2010, and to play regularly again is of course not easy physically, but I know why I can play football again.

Football is a big part of life for many people in Europe. The atmosphere of the stadium is really impressive. I feel sad, however, because football is like an idol for many, and they 'worship' the false god who can never satisfy their inner thirst. I also sometimes "lift" my view and imagine myself in heaven objectively looking at things on earth. Football would then appear to be something that merely puts a ball into a net. (Football-fans don't get angry please.) Even though football itself is not bad, if it's about a ball going to a net, it must neither be a god nor an idol.

Jorginho (Jorge de Amorim Campos), a member of the Brazilian national team who won the 1994 World Cup was a role model at the early years of my Christian life. Reading Jorginho's testimony greatly helped me to grow in faith, when I didn't have many Christian friends around. He testified, the emptiness of his heart could not be fulfilled even by winning the world cup/being the champion, but only by encountering and living with Jesus Christ. If the world champion testifies so, even football fanatics should listen to it. It was such an encouragement to receive a personal message from him many years later (in the attached video).

Aurora had its second fund-raising football tournament in order to rescue people suffering in prostitution. A lot of finances were raised, and our international team from the church had a privilege of winning the tournament. This is exactly one of the ways I think football should be utilized - for the glory of the Lord.

There is nothing wrong in having fun, making money or living a comfortable life; it's a blessing from the Lord itself, but the point is that right perspectives should not be neglected. Without exception all of us are going to depart this earth one day to stand before our Creator, so we want to use our remaining time, health and wealth well. Let us have right perspectives in whatever we do for the glory of our Lord. "... whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31

Jorginho‘s testimony/ジョルジーニョの証し

ある日の難民ハウスでのバイブルスタディーの際、私たちは「正しいものの見方・視点」について話し合いました。間違ったものの見方・視点は間違った決断をさせ、人を滅びへと向かわせるからです。ですから聖書は、「あなたがたは、地上のものを思わず、天にあるものを思いなさい。」（コロサイ3:2）と教えます。

次の数字からあなたの年齢を引いてみてください。オーストリア人またはドイツ人の場合、81 − あなたの年齢 = 。 ニュージーランド人の場合は82。スイス人または韓国人の場合は83。日本人の場合は85から自分の年齢を引く。シリア人の場合は72。エチオピア人の場合は65。僕の場合、85 - 38 = 47。この数字は、国別平均寿命で、そこから自分の年齢を引いたものが、地上で私たちに残された年数です。もちろん、平均寿命は単なる数字であり、私たちがどれくらい生きるかは、神のみぞ知るです。しかし注目したいのは、地上で残された時間は私たちが思っているほど長くなく、クリスチャンであろうとなかろうと、人は例外なく生ける神の御前に立つ（ヘブル9:27）ということです。（主をほめたたえます！イエス・キリストの内にある人は、私たちを創造し、愛してくださっているお方と永遠を過ごすことができます。）この厳粛な事実を知るとき、人生において正しい視点を持ち、時間を大切に過ごしたいと思うのです。

リオウは2022/23年のサッカーシーズンを終えました。彼がクラブでプレーしていることもあり、地域で好意的に受け入れられていることにとても感謝しています。リアナも今シーズン最後のバレエのレッスンを受け、僕も地元のシニアチームでプレーし始めました。練習や試合が終わるたびに、みんなで何時間も座ってビールを飲みますが、お酒を飲めない僕はただからかわれます（笑）。 それでも、地元の人々との関係を築くためには絶好の場です。（オーストリア方言で話す彼らの会話は20％ほどしか理解できませんが、スマイル＆わかっているふりして何とかやりきります（笑））

2018年にバーンアウトした際、僕はサッカーフィールドの一方の側からもう一方の側まで歩くことができませんでした。天を見上げて、「もしあなたが再びスポーツをさせてくださるなら、僕はあなたのためにプレーします」と神さまに祈ったことを覚えています。 最後にサッカー・チームに所属したのは 2010年、再び定期的にプレーするのはもちろん体力的に簡単ではありませんが、なぜ再びサッカーをプレーできるようになったのかよくわかっています。

ヨーロッパの多くの人々にとって、サッカーは生活の大きな部分を占めています。スタジアムの雰囲気は本当に圧倒的です。しかし悲しく思うのは、多くの人にとってサッカーは偶像のようなものであり、内なる渇きを決して満たすことのできない偽りの神を『崇拝』しているという現実です。また僕は時々視点を“持ち上げ”、天国にいながらこの地上のものを客観的に見ている自分を想像します。そうするとサッカーは、単にボールをネットに入れるだけのものに見えてきます（サッカーファンの方は怒らないでください）。サッカー自体は悪くないとしても、ボールをネットに入れるだけのことであれば、神でも偶像でもあってはならないはずです。

1994年のワールドカップで優勝したブラジル代表チームのメンバー、ジョルジーニョ（ジョルジ・デ・アモリン・カンポス）は、僕の信仰生活初期の大きな模範の一人です。周りにクリスチャンの友人があまりいなかったので、ジョルジーニョの証しを読むことで信仰が引き上げられました。彼の心の空虚さは、ワールドカップで優勝したり、チャンピオンになったりしても満たされず、イエス・キリストに出会い、主と共に生きることによってのみ満たされるとの力強い証し。世界王者がそう証言するなら、熱狂的なサッカーファンも耳を傾けるべきでしょう。何年も経ってから、彼から個人的なメッセージ（添付ビデオ内）を受けたことはとても励みになりました。

売春の沼で苦しんでいる人たちを救助するための団体、オーロラでは、第2回ファンドレイズ・サッカー・トーナメントを開催しました。多くの資金が集まり、レマ教会の国際チームでプレーし、トーナメントで優勝したことは特権でした。これはまさにサッカーの素晴らしい活用方法 − 神の栄光のために − の一つです。

楽しんだり、お金を稼いだり、快適な生活を送ることは何も悪いことではありません。それ自体は主からの祝福ですが、重要なのは、正しい視点を失うべきではないということです。例外なく、私たちは皆、いつかこの地上を離れて創造主の前に立つことになります。ですから、残された時間、健康、富を有効に用いたいと思うのです。何をするにしても、正しい視点を持つ。主の栄光のために。「…何をするにも、すべて神の栄光を現すためにしなさい。」 1コリント10:31
